As annual tradition in the Inle Lake area during the month of Thadinguyt, residents are excited to celebrate festival at the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda. Travel Myanmar this time to experience the most typical festival.
During the festival, you will have the opportunity to participate in two main events. One is the ritual procession of the Buddhas around the villages along the main road, Inle Lake on floating farms. The second part, equally attractive, is the traditional boat race, which attracts many people come to admire. Besides, local people and tourist can enjoy many other cultural activities.
There are a total of three Buddha statues at Phaungtaw Oo Temple that will be taken out of the pagoda, then brought to all 21 sites along Inle Lake, then returned to the temple on 31 / 10/2015. Sao Aung Myat, the Shan State’s governor, and senior government officials handed the statue back to the pagoda. The Buddha statue is gilded with gold leaves and offerings of lamps, water and other products.
On this occasion, a traditional one-legged boat race took place. According to local tradition, only three out of the four Buddhas in Yadanasan Hall perform this annual trip. A statue will return to the historical Phaungtaw Pagoda. This trip is a festival for local people, as well as for domestic and foreign tourists.
